A PleinAir gouache study from a PencilJam session at Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace.
This piece explores the beautiful Indo-Islamic architecture of South India, focusing on its iconic teak pillars and scalloped arches. I used ultramarine blue and violet for the shadows—avoiding black to better capture how the atmosphere, sky, and bounce light influence the darker values. For me, it’s all about capturing that expressive feel of the location rather than realism.
