About the Artist
I’m Hemant—a wildlife photographer, naturalist, and artist with an MFA in Painting. My work is deeply inspired by the rhythms of the natural world, and I find my peace in live sketching, whether it’s the structure of an urban landscape, the intricate details of nature journaling, or anything that fascinates me in the moment.
I love the tactile feel of pen on paper, often working on toned pages to capture light and shadow as I see them.

Finding magic in the details at the Chitrakala Parishad Craft Bazar. I’ve always been fascinated by our mythical characters, and I couldn’t resist sketching this powerful wood-carved Yali. There’s something so grounding about working on toned paper—using ink to find the shadows and white charcoal to catch the light, just like the sun hitting the grain of the wood. A beautiful afternoon spent capturing a piece of our heritage amidst the bustle of the market.
