This sketch of The State Central Library was something that I created during one of Penciljam’s sessions. It was my first time visiting the library and I’m so glad that I did. I was deeply enchanted by the creaking wooden panels underneath my feet, the acoustics being created by rows upon rows of books as well as the decorum that the people of Bengaluru maintained in this space.
I was fortunate enough to have gotten the idea to explore the newspaper section, from where I was able to see this specific breathtaking bird’s eye view of the interior of the library. I immediately knew it was what I wanted to sketch that day as soon as I saw it.
While it required quite some patience to sketch the books in this particular artwork, it was weirdly meditative too, like many repetitive tasks ought to be.
