About the Artist
I am a Bangalore based artist working in charcoal and oils. I find my inspiration in people, nature and everyday moments. After working in biotech for many years, I found my calling in art some years ago and have a professional certificate in Art and the Creative Process from the University of California, San Diego.
My art portrays the world around me that I observe, simple everyday moments that hold value yet often go unnoticed, family bonds that bring about subtle changes to oneself, and beauty for its own sake. I also enjoy exploring culture and traditions that keep one rooted, yet serve as a bridge to exploring that of others. I juggle my art career with the joys and challenges of raising two kids.
I am a two time Kalanand Art Award winner and my works have been exhibited in shows across India including prestigious locations like The Red Fort, New Delhi, CSMVS Museum Mumbai, Jehangir Art Gallery and Lalit Kala Academy. I also teach art workshops and my originals and commissions are found in homes across India and USA. At the core of my work I try to create with honesty, passion, beauty and hope.
Jakkur lake

About the Artwork
- Medium: Oil on Canvas
- Artwork Size: 8.5 x 11.5 inches
‘Lakeside reflections’ is an impressionistic oil sketch of Jakkur lake capturing the soft twilight colors reflected on the waters with hints of tall buildings of Bangalore in the background. Jakkur lake located in north Bangalore offers a green, calm escape within the bustling city for joggers, walkers and birding enthusiasts. I have visited this lake on earlier occasions and enjoyed it and hence it made its way into a painting.
