About the Artist

Shirupa Gupta is a full-time artist based in Bangalore. Watercolor lies at the core of her artistic process, though she also works with acrylics, oils, and collage. A colorist at heart, she is deeply intrigued by shapes, relationships, and spatial rhythms.

Her practice is rooted in observing and expressing the beauty of the mundane—finding quiet poetry in everyday streets, buildings, and corners that often go unnoticed.

About the Artwork

  • Artwork: 300 GSM Fabriano watercolor paper
  • Medium: Watercolor
  • Artwork Size: 10 × 13 inches

This watercolour painting is inspired by a visit to the Ken School of Art, a place that holds personal significance for the artist as it reminds her fondly of the time she spent with her mentor, JMS Mani.

The composition brings together burnt sienna architecture set against ruffling olive and sap green foliage, anchored by a muted purplish-grey road. The painting captures a distinct Bangalore vibe—where trees, structures, and streets coexist in quiet harmony.
