Sahaja Burde

Drawing Bengaluru, Blr Hubba 2026

About the Artist

In 2018, Sahaja had to choose between Fine Arts and Law, and she chose Law. But art was always a constant. She continued to create with no pressure, no grades, and no jury but just for the love of it.
Sahaja is a self-taught artist whose work is inspired by architecture and landscapes from her travels. Old abandoned buildings, detailed temples, open landscapes, and traditional prints and patterns often find their way into her work.

You’ll mostly find her in a café in Bangalore, sketchbook open on the table, painting with watercolours and gouache. There’s also coffee, a ceramic matka for water, paintbrushes everywhere, and a bit of a mess.

About the Artwork

  • Artwork: Art Print on Archival Paper
  • Medium: Gouache on A6 sketchbook
  • Artwork Size: 5.8 x 8.3 inches

A significant part of Sahaja’s practice looks at post offices – buildings that carry visible age and local character. Many of these spaces are partially abandoned or no longer central to daily communication, yet they remain physically present in the landscape. This specific piece began during a short two-wheeler ride she took through Jayanagar on a routine dosa run. This painting captures the straightforward architecture, and aged surfaces of the Jayanagar Post Office.
